Its Easter yay and we are preparing to head off on holidays. The kids have found a new apartment and plan to move in another week, so we get the house back to ourselves on our return. It was an interesting challenging climbing on top of their mountains of clothes in the spare bedroom to get to some of my art supplies in preparation of the holidays.

Out of the studio

We decided that since we have a whole house for a whole week overlooking the ocean and its only a couple of hours drive away, then we will pack everything we want so we can indulge creatively for a week doing nothing else but creative indulgence! More yay!

Ray has packed:

  • New camera bag
  • New camera flash
  • New laptop for camera
  • All the camera stuff .. everything!
  • Fishing rods
  • Books to read
  • Hard-drive of movies
camerabag

Camera bag, 1/3 packed …

I have packed:

  • Sketch pad
  • Color pencils
  • Watercolor pencils
  • Gray pencils
  • Copper wire spool
  • Wire tools
  • Ipad

Added to that we have all our comfy feather doonas, ugg boots and coats, outdoor seats and blankets, favourite foods, nice wine, the dog of course and friends booked in for a few dinners down the beach.

I cant wait to get 100s of inspirational photos of the beach, forest and wildlife. And to do plenty of sketches and shell collecting and doing nothing but letting the mind bloom into possibilities. In my last blog, I talked about being inspired by seashells and added a sketch of an idea I had to get underway while at the beach.

Around the house

More than anything I miss having a dedicated art studio, usually I would come back from outings and holidays and get straight into the studio with all my newly collected ingredients.

It wont be long now as we plan our house extension for next year – year 1 was the bathroom, year 2 the patio and garden and year 4 (2014) the garage and master bedroom! That will free up a whole bedroom as an indoor studio although we have decided I can also have an outdoor studio (cubby house) for my messy work. Its very exciting.

I have no idea how this may look but check out some these examples below I found while doing a little research. I’d probably go with something like the first one, the second is lovely but expensive, the others are umm .. interesting.

Which do you like?

ALWAYS THE ARTIST
