What a beautiful Easter week we had at the beach! Ray had ordered the following: a beach house, secluded, where we don’t need to drive anywhere, can stay indoors in wet weather and can view the ocean for photography.

That’s exactly what we got, for 6 glorious days we sat on top of ridge in the bush overlooking Airey’s Inlet on the Great Ocean Road. We didn’t need to drive for food, we could sit all day long gazing at the ever-changing ocean and do absolutely nothing.

As artists, we didn’t exactly do nothing, we photographed, drew, colored, walked and collected. We were inspired by the pure, uninterrupted, endless ocean.

A beach house on the hill.

The tiny dark blue beach-house was located on a hill, where the neighbouring house was empty and everyone else was just ants on the beach.

Inspired by the ever-changing ocean

I have lived near the ocean in one way or another for nearly 30 years in Queensland. Ray has never lived on the ocean and once asked, ‘don’t you get bored with the same view?’ To which I answered, ‘amazingly, the water looks different every day.’

Here are a few of His fantastic photos from the balcony of the beach-house.

It’s a dogs life ..

Our dog Buck loves the beach, he has this strange transformation once the sand is between his toes .. he runs, jumps and gallops for ever. Taking Buck to the beach is always a delight and laugh, it is amazing to watch such an extreme reaction.

Again some more amazing photos from Ray as Buck runs up the sand hills ..

Gallops through the water ..

And back again, over and over ..

Then back up the beach ..

Endlessly for hours. At times he helped me look for interesting collections on the beach …

And at times watching him made it very hard for me to concentrate on drawing.

A final sun-rise

On the last day, we were treated to this delight .. a magical sunrise to gaze at mesmerised. I couldn’t decide which photo I liked the best.
