I often get asked what inspires me to select a topic and how do I find the images. “Cute Cloths” is a collection I have gathered for this post which started from seeing the quilt below in my Google+ feed. It simply caught my eye so I saved the image.
The next day, in my Pinterest feed the following fabric artist work also appealed to me and I thought ‘how cute’ and hence I was motivated to find cute textile art for my next blog. I then typed textile art into Google and found “inches”, a form of miniature textile art which was appealing as they reminded me of my own mosaics.
However it was when I found Mister Finch and Mr X Stitch that I was intrigued by the male artists and continued to research both male and female textile artists. Hence by blog:
“Cute cloths by men and women”
The amazing Mister Finch
“My name is Finch – it’s actually my surname… everyone calls me it and I like it. I’ve called my business Mister Finch so its clear from the start that I’m a man and one that sews. We are a bit thin on the ground but we are out there!”
Mr X Stitch
“Things are still evolving, but these are exciting times. I’ve gone through a fair few personal journeys in coming to terms with the socio-political paradigm that says that cross stitch is for grannies. I made myself do things like cross stitching on trains and in public, and some of my stitcheries have explored these feelings as well.”
